Cool solutions for hot sleepers
Does this sound familiar? You wake up hot and uncomfortable during the night, so you throw the covers off, only to wake up a little later freezing cold. Repeat cycle throughout the night. If this is your sleep routine, you’re what experts call a hot sleeper. Luckily, there are a lot of sleep innovations that can help you stay cool and comfortable all night long.
Heat factors
Hot sleeping can be caused by hormonal changes, certain health conditions and medications, or just your body chemistry. Whatever the cause, it can make getting a good night’s sleep impossible.
No need to suffer
Mattress technology has come a long way in recent years. There are mattresses, pillow and protectors that can actually keep you up to 9° cooler at night! The right sheets can improve airflow adding extra cooling.
Try these tips tonight
Avoid alcohol or strenuous exercise near bedtime, choose cotton pj’s instead of silk or synthetics, keep the air circulating in your bedroom, and don’t let pets sleep under the covers (they generate a lot of heat!)
Memory Foam Mattresses
Memory foam mattresses mold to your body’s contours, providing head-to-toe cushioning and support. They’re great for pressure relief for shoulders and hips. If you’re a hot sleeper, be sure to look for a model like the Tempur-Pedic TEMPUR-LUXEbreeze° with a PureCool+ top layer that keeps you up to 8° cooler at night.
Hybrid Mattresses
Luxurious layers of foam conform to your body, while the coils below give you the responsive support you need. Cooling hybrids incorporate one or more layers of cooling foam or gel. The Sealy Posturepedic® Plus High Point combines a SealyChill™ cover with breathable layers of memory foam!
Innerspring Mattresses
Springy coils offer a supportive base with the “bounce” of a traditional mattress, topped with cushioning layers for soothing comfort. The Stearns & Foster Estate Hurston Plus Euro Pillowtop has a stretch Tencel top layer that wicks away moisture to keep the air circulating and your body cool and comfortable!
"Exactly what we needed"
"James at Sleep Outfitters was wonderful. He found EXACTLY what we needed to accommodate Ron being cold and my awful hot flashes! I wish every shopping experience we have had during furnishing this house was this awesome. He didn’t try and over speak us, he listened and found what we need! I recommend anyone and everyone to come see him!"

Complete your cool night's sleep
Your nighttime “cooling system” isn’t complete without the right pillow, sheets and protector. Combined with a temperature-regulating mattress, you’ll be amazed at how cool and comfortable you can be – and how well you can (finally!) sleep.
Pillows
Hot sleepers should choose a memory foam pillow with cooling technology. Avoid basic memory foam and down pillows, both of which can trap heat.
Sheets
Bamboo or cotton sheets are the best choice for hot sleepers. Avoid sheets with a super-high thread count or microfiber sheets; both can restrict air flow.
Protectors
Mattress protectors do more than protect from spills. Cooling fibers and moisture-wicking fabrics provide extra cooling and protect from allergens.
Adjustable bases
Elevating your head reduces pressure on your airway and can help you breathe easier all night. Our lineup of premium power bases can also improve circulation, spinal alignment and other health issues. The Tempur-ERGO’s Extend base even has built-in snore detection!
