Caffeine-Free Ways to Start Your Morning

coffee drinker

Whether or not you are a coffee drinker, many of us feel the need to consume some type of caffeine in the morning, to help us feel more awake and ready for the day. Whether or not you got poor sleep the night before, or know that you have a long day ahead, consuming caffeine can help you to feel more alert throughout the day. If you find yourself faced with the need to consume caffeine and would like some alternatives, look no further.

Stay Hydrated

Rather than going straight to the coffee in the morning, drink some water. Try to consume at least eight ounces of water when you wake up in the morning. This will allow you to feel more hydrated, refreshed, and ready to start your day. If you feel that plain water is too boring for you, add some lemon, cucumber or mint into your water for some additional flavoring.

Workout

Whether its going for a light jog, swim, or some yoga, getting your heartrate up in the morning will definitely make you feel more awake as you continue on with your day. Not only is working out beneficial to your overall physical health, it can help to counteract feelings of stress, improve your mood, and make you feel energized. While you may have to get up a little bit earlier to fit in a workout before work, or before your day begins, you can get your physical activity for the day out of the way.

Consume coffee alternatives

Some of you may find it very difficult to quit the coffee in the morning altogether, even while practicing other alternatives. By drinking some form of hot brewed beverage, even without caffeine, can make the transition a bit easier. Try dandy blend, which is a caffeine-free coffee substitute, that is made from dandelion, rye, chicory, barley and beet roots. Another option is caffeine-free green tea, once again giving you a hot brewed beverage feel, without the caffeine in it.
