Becoming a Morning Person

Early bird gets the worm, right? While not all of us are early risers, there are many benefits to getting up earlier in the day and accomplishing something before your work day starts. If you are someone who is not used to waking up early, there are definitely a few tips and tricks that may be able to help you jump-start your day a bit earlier than normal. Whatever the reason behind your early rising, preparing to become a morning person does not have to be difficult. Here are a few tricks to becoming a morning person.

Set a Schedule

The easiest way to get used to waking up earlier than normal is to make a sleep schedule and stick to it, the best you can. It may be a bit difficult at first, however it will be much more beneficial in the long run. If you have to be awake at 6am every morning, try to get asleep no later than 10pm the night before to make sure you are getting those 8 hours in. Even backtrack a bit to make sure you are ready to fall asleep by 10pm. Start preparing for bed around an hour prior, and turn off any electronics about 30 min prior. Lights off right 10pm so you can set yourself up for getting those much needed 8 hours.

When it comes for the time to wake up in the morning, don’t hit the snooze button! As hard as it may be, establishing that schedule will continue to help you in the long-run. Get up out of bed as soon as your alarm goes off and start that morning routine. Whether that is jumping in the shower right away, or going to get some exercise in, try your hardest to stick to that wake-up time. It will continue to get easier every day!

Workout in the Morning

As mentioned above, a lot of people choose to workout in the morning once they have gotten up. It’s a great way to get your day going as well as heart rate up. While for some it may be a lot to ask, getting up early AND going to the gym! But, this is a great way to get your day started. Your daily workout will be done, and you will have increased energy throughout the rest of your day.

Get some Natural Sunlight

Exposing yourself to natural sunlight in the morning and throughout the day can help to get you out of bed. Getting even 15 minutes of sunlight can help, that’s even walking from your car to work and vice versa or taking a nice stroll during a lunch break. If possible, try and use the natural sunlight to help wake you up in the morning.
