Contrary to what many believe, a latex and memory foam mattress are not the same. Nor are they created equal. Latex is made from a rubber that comes from tree sap so it is environmentally friendly. It is also considered a healthy bed because it is hypo-allergenic, pest resistant and fire resistant. The life expectancy of a latex bed can be 30 years or more. Latex beds have a little more spring than memory foam beds. Organic beds can also be made from other materials found in nature and are not chemically treated such as cottons and wools.
