Simmons

Zalmon G. Simmons built his first factory in Kenosa, Wisconsin in 1870. In 1874, he changed an entire bedding industry with his decision to mass-produce woven wire mattresses. In 1925, John Franklin Gail, Simmons' top engineer, designed a machine that would coil wire and insert it into fabric sleeves quickly and independently. Gail's Pocketed Coil® Spring Machine generated the unique independent Pocketed Coil® that formed the basis of Simmons® Beautyrest® mattress.

In 1995, Simmons launched the Simmons® BackCare® mattress. Designed to help keep proper spinal alignment, Simmons® BackCare® mattresses provide the sleeper with the proper support and comfort in all five zones of the body.

In the year 2000, Simmons celebrated the 75th anniversary of its Beautyrest® line by introducing a no-flip, no-rotate product line, and providing choice to the consumer with the Motion Separation Index. The next year Simmons introduces the first new mattress size in 42 years. The Olympic® Queen mattress was developed to be a full six inches larger – that's 10% more sleeping space - than a queen size mattress, but made to fit on a traditional queen frame.

In 2004, Simmons announced the revolutionary Pocketed Cable Coil™ design. Simmons also introduced HealthSmart™ Bed that same year, the best mattress for a clean and healthy sleep environment. Now you can wash away stains, germs, bacteria, dust mites, odors, and perspiration just like when you clean your sheets.

Motion Separation
You and your partner toss and turn some 40-50 times a night. So you can see why motion separation is the key to a peaceful night’s sleep. Here’s where Pocketed Coil® springs really deliver. Unlike in ordinary mattresses, the Pocketed Coil® springs are tied together at the side of each fabric pocket. So when you move or roll, the Pocketed Coil® springs don’t bounce with you. They instantly respond and envelop you, assuring an undisturbed night’s sleep.

Conformity
Think of the best massage you’ve ever had. Now see how the Pocketed Coil® springs go to work on your body. Wrapped in soft yet strong fabric, they work independently, conforming to the exact shape of your body. Every time you move, the Pocketed Coil® springs instantly respond and move with you.
