The company began doing business in November
of 1983 out of a single retail store located in South Charleston,
West Virginia. From this single location start, expansion followed
in several major phases so that currently the company consists of
thirty stores throughout West Virginia, Kentucky and Ohio.
Early in its history, the company operated from headquarters located
on the ground floor of its Kanawha City showroom in Charleston, West
Virginia. In 1987, the company purchased a three-acre site in Winfield,
WV and moved its headquarters. In the fall of 1987, a 10,000 sq. ft
warehouse constructed on the back section of this property. At the
present time, the company is operating delivery and distribution centers
in several states. Since 1993, the stores have been operating on sophisticated
Point of Sale (POS) basis using software from GERS, the number one
software vendor for the 100 top retailers in the country. |

From its inception, Sleep Outfitters has
prided itself on offering its customers a broad selection of bedding
featuring outstanding values at all price levels accompanied with
second-to-none customer service. The bedding selection encompasses
most of the major national brands as well as some strong regional
brands. In addition to mattress sets, Sleep Outfitters stores carry
a broad line of "sleep related" items such as brass, wood
and iron beds, daybeds, futons, electric adjustable beds, pillows,
mattress pads, and other accessory items which serve to complement
the major product line.
Its suppliers have recognized Sleep Outfitters on numerous occasions
with awards citing outstanding performance. With both its suppliers
and its customers, Sleep Outfitters has positioned itself as the leading
bedding retailer in the region. Sleep Outfitters owes much of its
success to a loyal, dedicated highly trained and very professional
